Hi all,
Both Dark and me tried to help UltimateKing on the forum and later in their PM to help him fix the portproblems that occur on his uTorrent. Now we'd like to make a topic of it once more. We did all..from portforwarding, getting the latest uTorrent, switching off/add rules on his firewall...which now reminds me: King, you use Comodo firewall, did you turn off Windows Firewall as well? Ok, so this is what he has: Linksys WRT54G router (King, do you go on wireless or using a cable? When i went wireless i didn't get the green symbol as well) Comodo Firewall Vista What other things can there be that blocks his uTorrent speeds? Thanks for any advice that might help -------------------- |

PortForward Guide for uTorrent and Comodo Firewall > http://portforward.com/english/routers/fir.../UtorrentIn.htm If he's runnning Comodo he should disable Windows Firewall completely. What AntiVirus is he running? Has he got a static IP address set? And does his Static IP match the IP address to which traffic through his uTorrent port is forwarded? What kind of speeds is he getting? Is it a home connection or a work / college network? -------------------- |

Also found this:
QUOTE How to configure Comodo firewall 3 for utorrent. 1. Go to : Firewall -> Advanced -> Attack Detection Settings -> Miscellanous and disable Do Protocol analysis 2. Go to : Firewall -> Advanced -> Predifined Firewall Policies and select Add... Give a name at the new Predefined Policy for example: utorrent Add the following rules: Rule 1 Action = Allow Protocol = TCP or UDP Direction = In Description = Rule for incoming TCP and UDP connections Source Address = Any Destination Address = Any Source port = A port range = (start port = 1025 / end port = 65535) Destination port = the port of utorrent Rule 2 Action = Allow Protocol = TCP Direction = Out Description = Rule for outgoing TCP connections Source Address = Any Destination Address = Any Source port = A port range = (start port = 1025 / end port = 65535) Destination port = A port range = (start port = 1025 / end port = 65535) Rule 3 Action = Allow Protocol = UDP Direction = Out Description = Rule for outgoing UDP connections Source Address = Any Destination Address = Any Source port = the port of utorrent Destination port = A port range = (start port = 1025 / end port = 65535) Rule 4 Action = Ask (enable Log as a firewall event if this rule is fired) Protocol = TCP Direction = Out Description = Rule for HTTP requests Source Address = Any Destination Address = Any Source port = A port range = (start port = 1025 / end port = 65535) Destination port = 80 Rule 5 Action = Block (enable Log as a firewall event if this rule is fired) Protocol = IP Direction = In/OUT Description = Block and Log All Unmatching Requests Source Address = Any Destination Address = Any IP Details = Any 3. Start utorrent. When Comodo asks you with a popup, choose Treat this application as select utorrent and enable Remember my answer. Have a nice file sharing. Additional Notes If you have connectivity problems: Go at Firewall -> Common Tasks -> Stealth ports wizard and select Alert me to incoming connections- stealth my ports on a per-case basis Because of a bug you must change the rule 4 (for HTTP requests) to allow. I hope this will be resolved with the next updates. If it was me I would get rid of Comodo Firewall and see if the that fixes the slow speeds. -------------------- |

Also found this: If it was me I would get rid of Comodo Firewall and see if the that fixes the slow speeds. I have been through this with King already, I spent over a couple of hours with him on MSN Messenger trying t establish why his down speed was so terrible, we went as far as port forwarding in his firewall which he established a green tick at the bottom of his bit client ( momentarily ) but he still achieved the same horrible speeds, green tick or not. I also told him if he is wireless then he should jack in, in order to achieve a better connection. We also went as far as finding a highly populated torrent with great heath, still he clocked the same speeds? We were in the firewall phase of allowing utorrent in his firewall an running speed tests, when he told me that he has a dial up connection. Our next step would have been totally disabling his firewall, but like I have stated above he would still get the same speeds with a green tick in his bit program while his firewall enabled, after he told me that he has dial up I concluded that he would never have decent speeds unless he switches to a Internet carrier. -------------------- THE GUN DOES NOT ASK QUESTIONS,IT ANSWERS THEM

Yes, it was you who helped him in PM, not Dark. We did all the settings above that everyone mentioned. The portforwarding, setting up static ip, add rule to firewall and more. That he was on dial-up i didn't know. Then the solution is simple, there isn't any. And yes, he does use Bellsouth

I finally asked what kind of service he had which he said dial up, problem solved, you have a problem out of my hands, switch your Internet carrier. -------------------- THE GUN DOES NOT ASK QUESTIONS,IT ANSWERS THEM

Maybe you could consider joining a warez site an using a down loader to get your files ( movies/apps/games ) considering that down loader programs use I would say 75 to 85% of your true bandwidth you will probably have better luck using those rather than a bit client if you find a movie that's 300MB in size hosted on a warez site.
You could probably download a 300MB movie file within a few hours or so with you limited connection, I actually downloaded Goodfella's it was 300MB in size, now we all now know the movie is 3hrs an the quality was amazing for a 300MB movie file, on tap the average Goodfella's file that you would find would be 800MB to over a GB an this 300MB file was just as HQ as any of them. I would stay away from the files that range in the GB sizes thou with your connection. -------------------- THE GUN DOES NOT ASK QUESTIONS,IT ANSWERS THEM

That could be a option, but I don't know how user friendly seed boxes are to dial-up connections?? He could use a torrent sites that host mainly seed boxes thou, there are many sites out that that a majority of their public are recognized seed boxers, Dream Tracker is a great site that houses a lot of seed box users but open registrations might be closed for the site, I am not sure?? -------------------- THE GUN DOES NOT ASK QUESTIONS,IT ANSWERS THEM
