Hey everyone! I'm yahoo and this is a guide for ALL AOE3 problems. This guide will be just like the 1 here!

I am assuming that you know how to install WinRar, TuneUp Utilities 2006, Diskeeper, and Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools. If not, post in the software forum and we will help you!


Here we go!

After downloading the files you end up with 3 folders with 1 .bin file and 1 .cue file in them. You also have a file called reloaded.NFO file. Read more about these files here.

Now, go and read the guide on updating video card driver (^link up top^). Update it to the latest version. If you don't chances are that you wont be able to play the game because it is very new.

After installing the latest drivers, double click on the "1-Click Maintenance" shortcut on your desctop. This should open a window and perform a quick scan. After the scan is complete, click "Correct Problems". Then exit the window.
**NOTE** If you have never performed a scan with TuneUp before, you will have hundreds, if not thousands of errors. Thats ok. Delete them all. **NOTE**



So you have the latest drivers and your registry is clean. Now its time to install the game!

Go to "My Computer" and left click on one of the "fake" aka Alcohol or Daemon drives. "Mount Image" and click "Open..."



Navigate to the folder where the first CD is, select it by clicking it once, and click "Open".



You should see this in "My Computer".



Double click the "AoE III Disk 1" icon. A window will pop up. Click "Install".



Click "Next", "Next", type in the serial number that you have, click "OK". The game will start installing.



When it asks you to insert the 2nd and 3rd CD, go back to "My Computer", left click THE SAME DRIVE, mount and navigate to the folder with the apropriate CD in it. Select the CD and click "Open". Then go back to the game install and click "OK".



The installation will continue. After requesting the 3rd CD, it will request the 1st one. Mount it and click "OK". Then click "Finish".

DO NOT START THE GAME!!!

Ok. Now you have the game installed, but before you can play you need to update it!

When you finish downloading the update, you will have the following:



Make sure you can view details. Left click on one of the first 3 rar files and select "extract here". If it asks you if you want to overwrite, click "Yes". Do the same with the one closest to the .sfv file.



You should have this in front of you:



Copy the aoe3-10to101 file into the game directory and double click it.
The update will start. After update finishes copy the file from the "DEVIANCE" folder into the game folder.

Do not play the game yet.
Use Diskeeper to defragment your hard drive. That will make skipping less lightly.

ENJOY YOUR AOE3!!!!

The demo did not run Windows 2000. Forget about Linux and Mac's!

The demo version was cracked to work on Win2000 and it was posted on demonoid a while back. Just wait for the cracked version. Thants it.

Hey I have to ask- what is the 1.01 patch for? I already purchased this game, because the cracked version didn't allow for online play- which I find to be essential to the series.

Unfortunately I won't be able to play the game effectively until I upgrade my grapics card.

WELL i have HIS 850XT video card it uses ATI i updated and everything but when i play games most of the games after a short time playing the game crashes and goes off or the computer crashes a blue screan comes up with a lot of writting and numbers for 3 second and my computer restarts..... You checked your temperatures? if it's crashing after a while of gaming it could be your system's getting too hot,

yes i check the temperature.. i have that thing vere it tells u if the comp is over heating but its a new computer it runs fine its only when it comes to games it shut's down

That means your pc is not stable ,regardless if it's new or not

Are you sure the gfx card is not overheating? what's your system specs?

i have AMD 3.8 dual core, i got 1gb of Corsair, A8N-SLI Delux mother board and the video card HIS850XT im sure nothing is over heating coz i can see the worning bell is set to lowes and nothing is over that.

Try updating windows and clearing your registry (TuneUp Utilities 2006). I had the same problem with other games, and that cleared them all up!

Use prime95

and memtest86 to test the stability of your system,

But games will put just as much a strain on the system,

try memtest and see if you get any errors back

i just got (TuneUp Utilities 2006) fixed a lot of problems and cleared my computer... it still does the same thing 5 minutes of game play and the games crashe. Most of the games. I think it mite be the gfx video drivers even tho i got all up to date it still crashes my computer. coz i know 2 people had the same problem with Rodeon HIS800series

Probably the card. Check the manufacturers website a couple times a week for an update...

HELP!! INSTALLATION FAILED.

I've tryed to install the game but I get a strange stop of the installation process. The installation seems to go very well but at the end of it (at the time when you can see the phrase "Publishing product informations..."), I get this "quiet" message: "The wizard was interrupted before Age of Empires III could be completely installed. The system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, run the installation later." and all the files on my HD has been deleted!
I've tryed a lot of things: closed all background program (antivirus and firewall included), started the installation from CD (not with Daemon Tool), I've clean Up the system with TuneUp Utilities, I've re-installed the Installshield files (from Microsoft resource base), but nothing, .
I'm almost sure the problem is the Installshield Wizard (or some components or service of it) because I got the same problem with Rome Total War (in other PCs the game worked!). I've searched the web and other forums and there are a lot of people with this problem but with other programs.
I'm very sad, I won't be able to play this amazing game ... Someone have any idea?? (yes, I Know that the last try will be the re-installation of Windows but I hope to avoid this solutions...)

Ok, spent all day installing this and updating everything. Now is there anyway to play multiplayer? If theres not it was a big waste of time and you should make that clear before people download it.

I mean that all the file of the game (not my entire HD !!!) have been deleted by the installation wizard itself. One second before I can see the folder and all the files in it.
It's not a virus, and I'm quite sure that the problem is not the torrent file (one Reloaded release) , but the Installshield Wizard (or my own version) or some windows service that stop the installation process. I'm trying to find out someone that has the same problem and has resolved it.

There is a way you can play multiplayer - BUY IT! You cant play multiplayer online with the games uploaded here because you need a unique serial number to play online. Now, let me make this clear - I dont upload these games. I just created this tutorial for people who dont know how to install this game. Thats it.


I dont think thats possible. I have never seen installation wizard behave that strangely. My bet that its a bad release (no offence to Reloaded), like someone copied their release and put a few viruses in it. I suggest you scan your PC.

Download the torrent and save to the EXAXT same spot where you have the AOE3 files. Your client should go through a checking cycle and download anything thats missing (if anything is missing).

Try installing again. Post the results here.

ok i tred again and again and finally for a reason that i don't know, it finally installed. ok but than... when i tried to update the aoe3 following your guide, however when it got to 6% it stopped and a error appeared.... i spent my affternoon trying to solve it when i finally decided to reinstall it.... but.... now i can't reinstall because when i get to the 3 cd this message appears: "Error 1305. Error reading file C:\Arquivos de programas\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\art\Art1.bar. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it." ok so now what can i do? please some help again... because i already did everything you said, and some i did twice.......

I tryed the installation in another pc and the game install and run perfectly (without update and without any adjustment.... just install and play!). So I'm sure that the problem is in my pc and in something related to the Installation Wizard Components (I've had the same problem with some other game...). I will go deep this problems: if I find out something interesting I will share it with the friends of the forum.

I dont know. Maybe you have... Maybe try... I dont know. My bet is you do what you did the first time - try over and over and install it. Then, dont update, just play the game. There will probably be issues, but at least you will be able to play it...

i think you can do something to me if really want to help me..... i looked out for the problem and i discovered that the problem is on an archive in the cd image 3 called 'art1.bar' its is kind of corrupted e some way, so when the installation got to that point it didn't continue.... here is the solution: can you send only this file? perhaps its kind of big(161MB compressed) so if you find me a solution that don't involve downloading averything again, i would be really pleased

The best way to get that problem resolved is to download just the 3rd CD. You can do that by downloading the torrent, saving it to a new location (not teh same place where you have your first AOE3 torrent). Then, if you are using Azureus, double click the torrent. A new tab appears. Navigate to a sub-tab called files. Left click on the first file, go to "Set Priority" and select "Do Not Download". Do that with every file except the "rld-aoec.cue" and "rld-aoec.bin". After you download them, just mount them when the game asks for the third CD.

but the problem is that i could download it again and have the same problem because it could be corrupted again .... so can't you disponibilize the archive art1.bar that definetly wouldn't be corrupted...... please?

ok ok i will download it again... but some of this 55,527 will have the same problem because someone who passed had it corrupted and someone who had me as a seeder could get it corrupted.... ok maybe the problem is just with me... but problably there are some other people with the same problem......

Your bittorrent client will throw out corrupted pieces and redownload them.

You said to copy the file from the "DEVIANCE" folder into the game directory.

This file is named "age3". There is already a file with that name in the game directory, so is it okay to replace it? I assume yes, but since you were so thorough, I thought you would have put that if thats the case. I want to be sure to prevent any unnesessary problems.

Returning to your question:
Yes, you NEED to replace the original file with the one you have in the DEVIANCE folder. That file is a no-cd patch. That means you dont have to mount or insert a cd in the beginning of your game. You can even delete the images of the game (although I dont recommend it), and it will still work!

This is a cool titorial only problem with it is that I'm uploading average 38KB/sec and downlouding average 15KB/sec witch realy is unfair.

Also on another note if I wanted to burn these files (cd1 cd2 cd3) onto 3 cds how would i creat the iso image cound someone take a sec to explain this please.

it doesnt have to be an iso and it depends what file u have in CD1..etcB)

Im not sure exactly what you mean but can you just say how to take the stuff in cd1 and cd2 and cd3 and burn it on a normal cd with nero.

yeah depending on the file type that is in CD1 etc then u will just burn or mount the file using nero etc, check the tutorials on how to do this and also diff file typesB)
